Greg MacLeod
Greg Macleod is a Director of an Aircraft Parts Company and in
2008 enjoyed his first full season racing in the BCCC, supported
by Maxtraction, he also participated in The Italian Baja, the
Transiberico and The Spanish Baja.
Although he has always had great enthusiasm for anything with
an engine, it was not until 2005 when he undertook any competitive
events, his first event was the London-Dakar, a largely on-road
rally, but was enough to interest Greg more, he then went on to
do some more smaller events, some in the desert.
|
It was during this time that
Greg realized he wanted to fulfill his long term dream of participating
in the Lisbon-Dakar. Whilst planning to modify his Land Rover,
he was told (rightly so) that he would need more specialist machinery.
After searching he bought a Bowler Wildcat and along with his
Co-Driver Ollie Ford set about gaining his Competion License,
on their first race in Lockerbie, they realized that it was too
hard to race and support the Bowler, so for their next race an
agreement was made with Maxtraction and they carried on supporting
the Bowler until it was sold. In early 2008 Greg and Maxtraction’s
John Cockburn went to Lisbon to participate in the Dakar, unfortunately
after all of the preparation and hard work the Rally was cancelled.
This did however give Greg the opportunity to buy a Bowler Nemesis
that was built to participate in the Dakar. The Wildcat was sold,
and this left Greg without a suitable car for the British championship,
he came to an agreement with Maxtraction for an “arrive and drive”
in a specially built Tomcat.

Kim Lloyd |
Steve, a sucessfull business
man from Derbyshire, along with his wife Kim and son Ollie, is
in his second season with the Maxtraxtion team. Steve came from
the challenge scene where he was extremely sucessful, making his
move to the speed events of the British Cross Country Championship,
Hillrallies, and the French Toute Terrain championship to seek
a greater challenge. He has been extremely sucessfull, winning
the trophy section of the B.C.C.C. coming 2nd in the Scottish
Hillrally and gaining several French results to boot.
At the end of the 2008 season he sold his R4 to make space for
his new and unique Mitsubishi powered Milner R5, the Maxtraction
team have contributed considerably to the develpment of the new
car and Steve is starting to see sucess after many hours of preparation.
Steve, Kim, and Ollie make a formidable team who improve with
every outing, they will be a force to be reconed with in future
seasons.

Driver:
Bob Seaman
Bob became involved in 4x4 off roading 8 years ago starting as
many do in club RTV’s with a shinny defender 90 progressing to
winch challenge events in pursuit of more adventure and excitement.
However Bob’s interest in off roading started early too and has
included periods of competing very successfully in motorcycle
trials and mountain biking throughout the UK and more challenging
places such as the French Alps. |
 |
Co-Driver:
John Jennings (JJ)
John became involved in off-roading at a very early age as his
father was competing in comp safaris and remained active in RTV
trials and over landing elements of the sport. John competed himself
in RTV trials very successfully and entered into many overland
events before joining Bob as co-driver in the exciting but mucky
world of challenge eventing. |
Bob Seaman and John Jennings
competed in the BCCC for the first time in 2008 having spent the
previous five years competing together as a team in extreme winch
challenge events with many successes in the major competitions.
Bob and John have ventured into the Malaysian rain forest crossing
some of the most extreme territory in the world and enjoyed the
survival challenges that go with it. Their interest in racing
stemmed from competing in the first Desert Storm Challenge in
Morocco and racing across the Sahara, in the now much modified
90, gave them the bug for speed leading to their entry into the
BCCC.
Team Lagombie Racing as Bob and John like to call themselves,
currently run a Milner R4. Bob, surprisingly for a Director of
a financial institute in the City, trained as a mechanical engineer
and maintains the vehicle himself as he considers this part of
the fun. The well equipped industrial unit is set in deepest rural
Hampshire not far from home.
Their hopes for 2009 are largely to survive and keep the car on
its wheels but certainly include enjoying the experience and camaraderie
associated with the Maxtraction organisation and its other client
who have become good friends. |
